Cybersecurity firm Polygraph offers additional tips to protect advertisers from click fraud, a sophisticated Internet crime targeting online advertisements.

Criminals, who create scam websites to host genuine advertisements placed by online advertisers, collect fees each time an advertisement is clicked. To maximize revenue, scammers use technology and trickery to generate a large number of false clicks on advertisements.

While some ad networks, such as those run by search engines, make efforts to detect fraudulent clicks, many click frauds go undetected. This means that advertisers may end up wasting their advertising budgets on this sneaky online scam.
