COLUMBIA, Missouri – Mizzou outdoor hitter Kaylee cox was named SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, September 7.
The rookie outside hitter was electric in Mizzou’s two Cardinal Classic wins, registering her first collegiate double-doubles. Cox helped the Tigers sweep northern Kentucky with 11 kills and a career-high 17 digs on Saturday afternoon before reproducing his double-double with a career-high 21 kills and 14 digs against Dakota in the South.
Cox is the first true freshman to record double-doubles in back-to-back games since 2017 and just the second to accomplish the feat in the SEC era. In the first two weekends of action, Cox is second on the squad with 3.06 kills per set. She also ranks second at the club with 2.53 recoveries per set.
Cox and the Tigers return to action this weekend at the UniWyo invite hosted by Wyoming. The Tigers will face Northwestern, UCSB and hosts Cowgirls starting Friday, September 10.
