Five LEGO References in Katy Perry’s 2022 Holiday Ad

The LEGO Group’s 2022 holiday campaign, starring Katy Perry, kicked off with a new ad featuring several LEGO set references.

Much like the LEGO Group’s 2020 and 2021 seasonal commercials, there are some interesting Easter eggs for LEGO enthusiasts to spot in the one-minute video, all of which can be found in one scene.

Not including the models that make up the main vehicle in the video, here are some LEGO set references we found in the 2022 holiday announcement, with another notable mention being the police car, although it’s not probably not based on any particular set, but rather refers to the continuous LEGO CITY range:

5 – 40516 Everyone is awesome

A display dedicated to 40516 Everyone’s Awesome sits in the town square where Katy Perry waits for the massive model to be built by the kids. In case the colorful design isn’t enough to reference it, monochrome figures are also featured, complete with a neon sign.

4 – 10298 Vespa 125

Parked on the street outside a LEGO store is a light blue Vespa, almost certainly referring to the Vespa 10298 125 which was launched earlier this year. Unfortunately, no motorcycle helmet, basket or flowers are included with this Vespa, like the real build.

3 – 10271Fiat 500

Not to be confused with Blue Fiat 500 77942, a yellow vehicle in the corner of a corner of a town square shot features a yellow Fiat 500, as evidenced by the distinct fabric on the roof. This is not a reference to the limited blue build, but rather to 10271 Fiat 500, which was also colored yellow.

2 – 40501 The Wooden Duck or 11021 90 years of play

It’s hard to make out, but on the side of a building in the background, the familiar shape of the LEGO Group’s wooden duck can be seen, possibly acting as a reference to both the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary as well as 40501 The Wooden Duck, 11021 90 Years of Play, or any of the models that include a version of the iconic duck.

1 – 10220 Volkswagen T1 Motorhome

Next to the Everybody’s Awesome exhibit in the Town Square is another vehicle parked on the side of the road, a Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, including a recreated LEGO set – 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. Interestingly, the set was also referenced in the Rebuild the World 2021 ad.
