In a written response to question from Lok Sabha member Naba Hira Kumar Sarania, I&B Minister Anurag Thakur said the BOC is undertaking information, education and communication campaigns through various media platforms for disseminating information on various government policies, plans, programs and initiatives. .

“Advertisements are shown in newspapers incorporated in accordance with the Print Advertising Policy, 2020. At present, 7,256 publications, including periodicals, are incorporated with BOC,” he said.

The minister said the amount of advertising given to newspapers by the central government varied over the years, taking into account various priorities, requirements and other aspects of government advertising and varied between ₹190 crore and ₹625 crore over the past five years. last years.

“As of March 24, 2022, 120 newspapers belonging to the Northeastern states are consolidated with BOC,” Mr. Thakur said, adding that the BOC has published advertisements for the publications among those consolidated, keeping in mind the requirements. of the campaign, available budget, target readership and region and preferences indicated by client departments and in accordance with the Policy on Advertising in Print Media, 2020.
